How to Post a Position or GNUBG Rollout

Here are simple instructions on how to post positions from the Board Diagram Maker and how to post positions, rollouts, and even annotation from GNUBG GammOnLine HTML output. This forum uses BBCode so we need to strip the HTML out and replace it with BBCode.

Board Diagram Maker

On the AP navigation menu above, you will see a link titled Diagram Maker. You can use it to set up any position manually or you may copy and paste GNUBG Match and Position ID's. You may also use it to import Snowie position files.

An example of the output would be:

Match to 7, Blue leads 3-0
Blue on roll. Cube action?

For instructions on how to use the Board Diagram Maker, see the FAQ section at the bottom of the Board Diagram Maker page.

GNUBG GammOnLine HTML Output

While browsing or playing a match within GNUBG, simply click on the position, cube action, or rollout result you want to post. At the GNUBG menu, go to Edit => Copy as => GammOnLine (HTML). The HTML output will then be copied to your clip board.

At the Posting Editor page of this forum (where you would create or reply to a post), you will see a section titled "Convert GNUBG GammOnLine HTML to BBCode" at the bottom of the page. Simply paste the GNUBG HTML output in the textbox on the left, click "Convert to BBC", and select and copy it from the textbox on the right. Paste the BBCode output within your post and submit it.

Examples of the GNUBG GammOnLine HTML output:

Position:

The score (after 2 games) is: wells 0, fanar 3 (match to 7 points)

Move number 11: fanar to play 44

How to Post a Position in ASCII and some Dev Comments

<= bumps her topic...

If you want to post a position or rollout results in ASCII, you can use "pre" tags. Click the "pre" button on the BBCode list at the posting editor page and paste your content between the tags. It will look misaligned in the editor but will line up correctly after you submit or preview your post.

Examples of using pre tags:

Position:

Dev Comments:
As I am flattered that the HTML version of the Board Diagram maker has been used extensively on many sites, I have to mention that the BBCode version that we use here on this forum has been customized to work with custom BBCode and CSS and will not work on other sites. If you are a PHP forum admin and would like the list of custom BBCodes and CSS required to make the Board Diagram maker work on your site or would like help instituting the new GNUBG GammOnLine HTML to BBCode mod, you are welcome to contact me and I will be happy to assist you.

Board Diagram Maker Version 2.0

The new Board Diagram Maker Version 2.0 is finished. The main changes are acceptance of XG (eXtreme Gammon) ID's and the ability to display not only Double / No Double decisions, but also Take / Pass decisions.

An example would be:

Match to 11, Blue leads 6-4
White redoubles to 4. Blue to take or pass?

XGID=-BBBB-C----ac---BbbcAbA-b-:1:-1:-1:D:6:4:0:11:16

The last minor feature is the ability to flip the resulting position.

Voila!

P.S. The above link will only function in this Forum. For the more widely utilized HTML version see: HTML Board Diagram Maker.
