Ace Point Multi-Day Tournament Rules
Example: Suitable for Single-Elimination, Double-Elimination,
and Swiss Format Tournaments (With Slight Modifications)
Winner's Ladder Bux Bonus
-
5,000 Ladderbux have been generously donated by xschell to the first-place winner. The tournament is in her name, but tia_elena_1 will be the working TD.
Format, Match Points, and Round Completion
-
This is a Single Elimination Tournament. Early Rounds are 17 Points. Semi-Final Rounds are 19 points and the Final Round is 25 points. Rounds are to be completed within 7 days.
-
Round deadlines may be reasonably extended with TD approval, to avoid either player forfeiting an incompleted match.
Guidelines For Match Scheduling
- E-mail your Opponent and offer 3 dates and times to play. Please specify Eastern Standard Time when submitting convenient days and times.
- Times should be a mix of morning and evening, being considerate to those in different time zones.
- If your Opponent does not respond after 4 days, you may post a Win By Forfeit. The Win By Forfeit link is on the Main Tournament Page.
-
The Tournament Director may help facilitate scheduling difficulties if the Opponent contests the Win By Forfeit post.
Server Instant Messaging (ie. Yahoo Instant Messenger and Yahoo Chat Boxes) are not considered "good faith" unless they are used to schedule a date. Always follow-up an Instant Message with an e-mail.
Player Responsibilites and Reporting Match Results
-
Players are expected to read the Rules. They are responsible for scheduling their own Matches and for copying all correspondence to the TD in a timely manner. Players must report Losses to Tourney Page within 24 hours of match completion and prior to any Round Deadlines.
Table Settings and Grounds for Disqualification
- All Matches are to be played at rated and protected tables. Any player who Forces Foreit will be immediately disqualified.
Booted Players
-
A player is considered to be booted when he or she is unable to continue the game play. The player's opponent is expected to give their opponent a minimum of 20 minutes to return from a boot. In the event a player does not return in the 20 minutes, the match must be saved. The unfinished match must be re-scheduled, restored and completed as soon as possible. There are no boot limits.
Saved Matches
-
If a save is needed, both players are to note the score and save the match at the END of any game. Avoid MID-GAME saves as Yahoo has been known to lose them. The match may be restarted and restored at the current score.
Unfinished or Incompleted Matches
-
If a match is not played, the higher seeded player advances. ONLY Exception: If the lower seed emails the opponent and copies the TD showing unsuccessful attempts to contact, the lower seed advances.
Repeated No-Show Penalties
-
Players who repeatedly fail to appear for matches may be penalized by loss of points when the match is played, forfeiture of the match, and/or suspension from future Tournaments. Determining whether to impose a penalty, the primary criteria will be the amount and type of notice given and the player's past history, if any, of no-shows. In Swiss Format Tournaments, 2 consecutive No-Shows will be cause for the player to
risk immediate removal from the rest of the Tournament.
-
Double-Disqualification
-
A Double-Disqualification may be issued under the following circumstances after 1 FULL Round + 3 days time (or 1 FULL Round + 1/3rd Round time) have elapsed:
-
Neither party has emailed their opponent.
-
Neither party has posted a Win By Forfeit Request.
-
Neither party has responded to Reminder Emails, Yahoo Server Instant Messages, Regular Yahoo Room Messages or any such attempt made by the Director(s) to make contact.
-
Advancement Procedure
-
Disqualification #1: Match will be awarded to the player with the highest seeding and their opponent will incur a loss.
-
Disqualification #2: The previously awarded player will then be disqualified and will incur a loss
3 days after the prior Round deadline or after 1/3rd total Round time has elapsed.
Tournament Final
-
The Tournament Final will be played to completion and a forfeit shall be avoided at all costs. Only under the most rare and unusual cases shall a final ever go unplayed. The Tournament Director(s) shall make every attempt possible
to assist players in scheduling and completing the Tournament Final so as to avoid either player taking a forfeit.
